LLIPS were immersive "art" parties showcasing some of Melbourne's most brutal emerging artists.
Participating artists were asked to create original works that pushed their practice to its limits and would emerge seamlessly from within the party environment. The evenings were an opportunity for artists to test wild ideas in front of a live audience, outside of the traditional theatre, music or gallery space. The relationship between audience member and artist was challenged, as attendees were encouraged to watch or keep dancing, participate or be entertained, loose control or stay in control. Each evening featured sound art, installation, drag, performance art, dance, puppetry, techno and interactive video art.
LLIPS events became extremely popular in Melbourne's underground arts scene and led to the companies expansion into creating performance and installation works for large-scale music festivals, including Cream Fields Music Festival 2010, Next Wave Festival, and Burroughs Music Festival. The company also created events for touring international artists including Jonny Woo and Feral.
